WLTL is proud to announce that for the 11th year in a row, the station and its students have won an Award of Excellence from the Communicator Awards.  More than 7,000 entries were entered in this year’s competition, and only 51 audio submissions were given an Award of Excellence.  Making this prize even more special is the fact that WLTL won the award in the category of Comedy.  This is not only a first for WLTL, but it was the only award given out this year in the category.  And the icing on the cake is that this category was open to all broadcasters, commercial production houses and advertising agencies, not just student productions.  Click below to read more and see a picture of our award!

Mike Dorris ‘09, John Spataro ‘09, Ben Kabialis ‘09 and Stuart Prentice ‘10 produced parodies of the radio ads for “On-Star” involving Santa Clause, and these parodies aired on our sketch comedy show Walk the Plank in December 2008.   

WLTL also won an Award of Distinction for an on-air promotion for the WLTL Morning Show AM Mayhem.  This production was produced by Mike Dorris ‘09, John Spataro ’09 and voiced all the hosts of the morning show (which was around eight students).  An Award of Distinction is the next highest award given out at the Communicator Awards, and for the past 4 years, WLTL has won at least one of these awards as well.
