WLTL is a non-commercial radio station located at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, IL. WLTL can be found at the frequency 88.1 and broadcasts at 180 watts, reaching 17 surrounding communities. WLTL is owned by the Board of Education of School District 204 and is operated by the students of Lyons Township High School. The music of WLTL is organized in a variety rock format. The DJs air various types of music such as rock, alternative, pop, ska, emo, and many others. The music format allows each DJ to play his/her specific genre of music while captivating a broad listening audience. Besides variety rock slots, WLTL has many specialty shows. WLTL specality shows include sports shows, radio dramas, and talk shows. WLTL also alters its normal format to broadcast sports events, school concerts, and community events.All students attending LTHS are welcome to be a part of WLTL. A student who does not wish to participate as an on-air DJ may find an interest in an alternative position offered, such as DJ assistants, engineers, participation in the sports broadcasting team, or the news broadcasting team. DJ auditions are held at the begining of each semester. They consist of a vocal test, written music test, and a one-on-one interview with a WLTL manager. Auditions occur during the beginning of each semester.

WLTL is currently one of the largest academic clubs at LTHS WLTL is the recipient of more than 25 awards of excellence, including the John Drury award for Best High School Radio Station in the Nation. WLTL has also been recognized nationally for the quality broadcasting that it provides by the National Association of Broadcasters.   • Local Coverage: Within this area, you should be able to receive the radio station on almost any radio with moderately good to very good reception.
  • Distant Coverage: Within this area, the signal of the radio station may be weak unless you have a good car radio or a good stereo with a good antenna. You may not be able to receive the station at all on walkmans or other portable radios.
